The 1962 Elite Racing League season was the 3rd season of the FIA's Formula One motor racing support series (the series would remain a support series until 1997.) The Drivers Championship was for the first time in the championship's history not won by Jack Brabham instead his close rival through the past 2 seasons: Jim Clark from Great Britain won the championship driving for Lotus. Ferrari won the Constructors Championship following a very consistent and strong season. The drivers championship was decided at the final race in the United States whilst Ferrari won the Constructors Championship with a race to go.
Season Review[edit | edit source]
The French Grand Prix was moved to the new (at the time) Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours as the FIA said that it would make the series look more modern, the French Grand Prix would remain at Magny-Cours from this date.
Teams and Drivers[edit | edit source]
In 1962, Jack Brabham created his own Formula 1 team and because the Elite Racing League was an F1 supported series at the time he was allowed to bring it over to the series for 1962 onwards.
