The Drivers Championship was won by Jack Brabham who won his third ERL drivers championship, it would also be the first time a drivers own team had won a constructors championship in Elite Racing League history with Brabham-Ford winning their first constructors championship, a few years previously in Formula 1: Brabham had accomplished the same achievement by winning the F1 drivers and constructors championship with his own team. He was able to clinch the title with a race to go whilst the constructors title was decided once again at the final race in Argentina.

Season Review[edit | edit source]

The Canadian Grand Prix was added to the calendar making it the first new race since the addition of the South African Grand Prix in 1964.

Teams and Drivers[edit | edit source]

Brabham switched to Ford engines, they were also renamed Motor Racing Developments Ltd yet the constructor name didn't change.

Cooper left the championship at the end of the 1968 season following a midfield struggle in the past few years because of this they lost profit from racing in ERL due to their midfield finishes and the team left citing money problems.
