The Drivers Championship was won by 1967 Formula 1 Champion, Denny Hulme on his debut for the new McLaren team who won it at the final race by 4 points, whilst a surprising constructors championship battle put Honda at the top of the results table for the first time after the chequered flag was waved in Buenos Aries, this would be the first Constructors title not to be won by a European constructor.
