The 2018 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season is the 70th F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season. And the first in the ShaneEyoho Universe, The FIM introduced many things in this first ShaneEyoho Universe season, one being Team Votes in which teams could vote on rule changes for future seasons. Marc Márquez entered the season as the reigning champion, with Repsol Honda being the reigning team champions and Honda the reigning constructors' champions. Originally scheduled for 19 races, the season was reduced by one Grand Prix due to the cancellation of the 26 August Silverstone event due to unsafe track conditions involving standing water after a rider vote. As it stands after the Austrian Grand Prix, Ducati's Jorge Lorenzo leads the Riders Championship with Defending Champion Marc Marquez in 2nd only 3 points behind, Andrea Dovizioso (Lorenzo's teammate) is 3rd with a 33 point gap to Marquez. Ducati Team still lead the Teams Championship with a 47 point gap to defending champions Repsol Honda Team in 2nd, Honda have only a 2 point gap back to Movistar Yamaha MotoGP in 3rd. In the Constructors Championship defending champions Honda take the lead for the first time since the Grand Prix of the Americas after mixed conditions really messed up Ducati and Yamaha's respective races at the Austrian Grand Prix. The teams and riders are the same as the real life 2018 MotoGP season.

Calendar Changes[edit | edit source]

The British Grand Prix was scheduled to move from Silverstone to the new Circuit of Wales, but construction on the new track has not commenced. The two circuits reached a deal that will see Silverstone with an option to host the 2018 race, however the future of the race seems dim as the FIM and Silverstone were not able to reach a new deal so therefore the FIM opted to wait for the Circuit of Wales to be finished before reviving contract negotiations. This means that MotoGP is without a British Grand Prix for the foreseeable future.

The Catalan Grand Prix used a new configuration of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, wherein the previous set of corners of turns 13, 14 and 15 were combined into a sweeping right corner. The new layout was previously used in Formula 1 from 2004 to 2006.

The teams voted in the season about keeping the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez for 2019 onwards. If the vote is approved than the calendar for 2019 will be decreased to 17 races. The vote occurred at the press conference for the 2018 Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez on the Thursday before the race, the teams voted and when the voting was done it was decided that Jerez would stay as the host the Spanish Grand Prix for 2019 and future seasons.
